In fact the Chinese government requires the manufacturer to run mask fit tests on real humans with ≤ 8% leakage. Both N95s and KN95s are both rated to capture 95% of 0.3 micron particles.

The US Centres for Disease Control (CDC) also claims that KN95 masks are as effective as N95 masks and are one of the many “suitable substitutes” for N95 masks.

However, both KN95 and N95 masks offer significant protection over standard surgical blue 3 ply masks.
